Snake River Watershed Partnership
Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Counties, and other partners across the watershed came together to develop a comprehensive watershed management plan for the Snake River Watershed. A watershed is an area of land that drains all the streams and rainfall to a common outlet. The vision for One Watershed, One Plan (1W1P) is to create a local water plan on a major watershed boundary instead of traditional County boundaries. Together, we have a comprehensive plan to include prevention, restoration, protection, and preservation of our watershed.

Geologic Perspective on the Snake River Watershed

Pokegama Lake: Sub-Watershed Assessment
For decades, Pokegama Lake has faced significant water quality challenges due to excess nutrient loading and recurring algal blooms. This Subwatershed Assessment represents a vital step forward, providing a science-based roadmap for local governments, landowners, and conservation partners to work collaboratively. By identifying and prioritizing the most cost-effective best management practices across the watershed, this report offers a clear strategy to protect and restore Pokegama Lake through coordinated action and shared commitment.

Aligning Restoration with Nature’s Course: A Roadmap for Partners in the Snake River Watershed
The Snake River Watershed’s unique geologic legacy — carved by ancient bedrock, glaciation, and dynamic river processes — continues to shape how water moves across the landscape today. For local governments, landowners, and conservation partners, understanding this deep history is not just academic; it is critical to ensuring that every conservation dollar delivers the greatest return. By aligning restoration efforts with the watershed’s natural trajectory, we can invest wisely, protect our shared resources, and secure clean water outcomes that are resilient, cost-effective, and enduring. This report offers valuable insight into how we can align restoration and land management practices with the watershed’s natural trajectory.
