The Snake River Watershed Management Board and Citizen Advisory Committee meeting for October 23, 2023 will include, along with any regular agenda items, the public hearing for dissolution of the Snake River Watershed Board and Citizen Advisory Committee per requests from Aitkin County and Pine County members.
With the adoption of the “One Watershed, One Plan” water plan and new Joint Powers Agreement, the above counties have requested the dissolution of the Snake River Watershed Management Board and Citizens Advisory Committee.

The Snake River Watershed Management Board (SRWMB) is a four county non-regulatory joint powers organization.
The Purpose of this Board is to:
1. Coordinate the comprehensive county water plans within the Snake River Watershed.
2. Provide for the joint and cooperative management of county water plans and other actions necessary to protect and enhance the water and land resources within the Snake River Watershed.
3. Identify existing and potential problems and opportunities for the protection, management, and development of water and related land resources within the Snake River Watershed.
The watershed consists of 1010 square miles, within portions of Aitkin, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine Counties.

Citizens Advisory Committee:
Membership of the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC)
Members of the CAC consists of Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) supervisors from participating counties, along with a specified number of citizens and lake association members (see By-Laws for details). The CAC advises the Snake River Watershed Management Board on issues of policy and administration related to the SRWMB’s purpose and mission statement. Topics of focus can include water quality, stewardship, education, projects, land use, land management (eg. forest practices, agriculture, private lands), recreational systems planning, water quality monitoring and land conservation.
Meeting Schedule:
Meetings are tentatively scheduled for the 4th Monday of each month @ 9:00am.
Meetings typically held at the Kanabec County Courthouse in meeting rooms 3/4 (limited seating) and with WebEx access, unless otherwise posted.
Upcoming Meetings
June 26, 2023 SRWMB and CAC meeting
This meeting will be held in meeting room 5. This is a smaller meeting room and web meeting is NOT set up. This meeting is to discuss and get information for the Board member counties referencing the Joint Powers Agreement and the SRW Board future.
