American Linden (also known as Basswood) has a late blooming, fragrant flowers that are highly attractive to bees and produce excellent honey. This tree prefers deep, rich, well-drained soil and full sun. It can be found on river banks just about the ordinary high water mark. American Linden is often a very large tree at maturity and although fast growing, it can live over 200 years. Mature trees provide nesting cavities for wood ducks and wood peckers.
